November 2021 Photo Contest Winners
The results are in and our November 2021 photo contest winners have been selected!
With new members joining for the first time and several past winners returning, this was one of the more competitive contests of 2021. Voting ended with a three-way tie for third, and all of the winning photos were simply beautiful.
If you joined us for the live announcement on the 1st (we announce the winners live on Instagram every month!), thanks for helping us with the tiebreaking votes! If you missed the live announcement, read on to see who clinched bronze, silver, and gold.
Third Place: @astiller
Bud Gorilla Lemon Fire
After a live tiebreaking vote, the third-place slot for our November 2021 photo contest goes to returning contest winner @astiller! Ashlee is one of our most active members and we always look forward to seeing what she enters into the contest.
For our November 2021 contest, Ashlee’s winning shot was called “Bud Gorilla Lemon Fire” and features a beautiful, fat cola leaning heavily to the side against a flat black background. This photo is absolutely stunning and we can’t wait to see how it comes out on our fine art hemp paper.

2nd Place: @wzhuw
Strain: Frozen Ice
Our second-place slot went to another returning winner who joined us just a few months ago. Wilson (@wzhuw) is an LA-based photographer who’s been wowing the crowd with his gallery-quality bud shots since the first day he entered our contest.
On his Instagram page, you’ll notice Wilson photographs a wide range of subjects beyond cannabis, but by the looks of the images he submits to our contest, it’s hard to believe he doesn’t practice cannabis photography exclusively.
Wilson’s second-place shot for our November 2021 contest features a beautiful trichome-covered sample of the strain “Frozen Ice” with a reflection placed underneath the bud and against the flat black background. This is a professional-level photo and we’re absolutely hyped that Wilson is blessing our community with these amazing entries.
First Place: @wzhuw
Strain: Nerdz
Since every photo Wilson enters is top-notch, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he earned both the silver and gold in our November 2021 photo contest. While our top pick was admittedly his shot of Frozen Ice (which won 2nd), the voters clearly preferred the other bud shot he submitted.
Wilson’s first-place winning bud shot features the strain “Nerdz” and, while not as “frosty” looking as the Frozen Ice sample he photographed for his second-place winner, this bud sample boasts a beautiful array of colors and incorporates various shades of greens, purples, and oranges.
The colors stand out vibrantly against the flat black background, which seems to be the background color of choice for high-end cannabis photography.
