April 2022 Photo Contest Winners

Our April 2022 photo contest has come to a close and it was one of the most entered contests held to date. April 2022 also marks the beginning of our third year of Potography photo contests! We’re incredibly thankful and grateful for all the support, both for our platform and the artists who give it life.

While there was a bit of foul play during the voting period (and, sadly, the responsible contestants had to be disqualified), our April contest ultimately had a great mix of contestants and submissions.

We had shots of sprouted seeds, multiple types of concentrates, black and white edits, bud shots, leaf shots, images with props, images in nature, and more. It may have been the most diverse range of cannabis photos of all our contests to date, and we love seeing what each of our members brings to the table in terms of style and substance. Thank you all again.

And now, what you’ve all been waiting for, let’s see our April 2022 photo contest winners!

Third Place: @full_cookies

Forbidden Fruit Diamond from Canna Organix

In third place, we have a beautiful close-up of a “Forbidden Fruit Diamond from Canna Organix.” The photo was taken by one of our newest members, @full_cookies, who’s been absolutely killing it with his mouth-watering concentrate shots.

We love this photo because it’s clean, clear, and overall very high quality, just like you’d expect from the diamond that is the subject of the photo itself. The gold colors from the diamonds and the silver from the dab tool compliment each other wonderfully.

You can tell the artist @full_cookies put a lot of thought into its composition and production, and the seemingly small details really go a long way in making it a photo that stands out from the crowd.

Very well done and congrats to @full_cookies on the win!

Second Place: @your_photo_lane

A single leaf

In second place, another one of our newest members secured a spot on the winners’ podium with “A single leaf.”

This photo was submitted by @your_photo_lane and, like our third place winner, it’s one of those photos that you just know was taken by a pro. In front of a black background with a slight gradient, “a single leaf” is lit with what looks like a red or yellow light, which hits the leaf from an angle that creates really interesting colors and shadows on the otherwise green leaf.

The focal point of the photo is the prominent center blade of the 5-bladed leaf and the complex leaf surface textures revealed by the camera and lighting equipment. We loved printing this photo on our favorite fine art hemp paper.

Thanks to @your_photo_lane for joining us and congrats on your win!

First Place: @astiller

Four Seeds

Four Seeds
“Four Seeds” by @ashleestillerphotography

In first place, our most-awarded member @astiller (@ashleestillerphotography on Instagram) does it yet again with her shot “Four Seeds.”

This photo shows four sprouted seeds on a black reflective surface, with the two front seeds in focus and the two other seeds in the background. Sprouting from the seeds are beautiful healthy white roots that will one day provide foundational support, nutrition, and much more to an adult cannabis plant.

As the saying goes, “Healthy roots, healthy fruits!”

Along with the healthy roots, Ashlee’s photo also highlights the beauty of the cannabis seed itself. Each and every seed is unique, with different shades of brown and either dark or light brown veins. Some have prominent black streaks, while others are mostly brown. You can see many of these differences in Ashlee’s photos.

We really love the composition of this shot. The arrangement of the seeds on the black reflective surface (which could be a regular black surface with reflection edits added later, feel free to let us know in the comments, Ashlee!) was top-notch, and photos of sprouted cannabis seeds are not something you see every day.

Thank you @astiller for submitting these amazing photos and congrats on another first place win!
