August 2022 Photo Contest Winners

Our August 2022 photo contest winners have been chosen!

August was a slower month than usual due to some big website updates taking place during the first 1-2 weeks of the month, but we continued our trend of gaining new members every month and the entries were nothing short of incredible!

Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at our August 2022 photo contest winners.

3rd place: @vquezcha

Stay Puff #5 Cured Flower

In third place, new member @vquezcha wins with an incredible shot titled “Stay Puff #5 Cured Flower.” The photograph features a single dried bud in front of a black background with a subtle white radial gradient. This gradient, combined with the expertly-lit bud, helps give the photo a sort of spotlight effect that ensures the bud is the star of the show.

2nd place: @vquezcha

Oreoz Strain Cured Flower

In second place, @vquezcha does it again with a beautiful cured flower shot, this time with the strain Oreoz. Instead of using a black background, however, @vquezcha set this bud sample against a light purple background that appears to have a subtle linear gradient.

The purple background really helps bring out the purple hues in the Oreoz bud, and the crisp detail on the bud’s surface helps show off its high trichome coverage. Some parts of the bud are coated with such a thick layer of trichomes that you can’t even see the plant material underneath!

1st place: @vquezcha

Trichome inspired, Capital G #1 shatter

Our first place winner for August is one of our favorite photos we’ve seen entered in our contests since we started back in March 2020. The shot is titled “Tricome inspared, Capital G #1 shatter” and it features a group of four trichomes standing up on what looks like a glass dish or pipe.

I can’t tell from the photo if the trichomes were stood up like this for the shot or if it was an edit, but either way, the result is nothing short of amazing.

Not only is the sight of four trichomes against a black background cool on its own,  but when you zoom in to really look at the photo’s detail, it’s hard not to be amazed at the colors and textures you see on each individual trichome head. Remember: these things are just a couple of millimeters long!

Very well done, @vquezcha !

Closing Thoughts

That does it for our August 2022 photo contest winners. Congrats again to @vquezcha for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place sweep, and thanks to everyone who submitted entries or voted.

Our September contest is now live so go check it out or, if you’re reading this further into the future, visit our photo contest page to view the currently active contest.

In other news, this post almost went unpublished because we were so distracted with the major website updates we made this month. If you haven’t already, check the website menu for the new “Community” tab and explore the links in the drop-down menu.

We’re still working on adding content but the main structure is there and we would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and feedback as we finish setting everything up so we can be sure to include the content and features you all want most.

We’re most excited about the member profile pages, member directory, and forums, since these features make it easier for members to connect with each other. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

We appreciate everyone’s support and hope to see you all in our September contest!
