May 2021 Photo Contest Winners

Our previous photo contest (April 2021) set a new record for the most votes in a single contest and, in May, we continued the momentum and set another new record (!) for the most entries in a single contest. This makes our May 2021 Photo Contest our most competitive contest yet!

Thank you to all of our returning members for your continued participation, and thank you to all of our new members and participants as well!

The more this platform grows, the more dope stuff we’ll be able to organize for our community of cannabis photographers. And we’ve got so many cool ideas for the future!

But for now, let’s take a quick step into the past to appreciate the winners of last month’s photo contest.

Third Place: @king_gheedorah

Chunked up!!

“Chunked up!!” by @king_gheedorah

In third place for our May 2021 Photo Contest, new member @king_gheedorah stood out from the crowd with a beautiful shot of a CHUNKY flower. A strain name wasn’t provided, but the photo was titled, appropriately, “Chunked up!!” and the shot nicely highlighted the dense bud structure all us growers strive for.

The other entries from @king_gheedorah show some equally beautiful buds, and we can’t wait to see more entries from this grower in future contests! Congrats and well done my friend!

Second Place: @NSD420

White Buffalo

In second place, we have one of our most awarded members returning with another round of killer shots.

Nature Sweetest Dank (@_nature_sweetest_dank on IG) has won a bunch of our contests in the past and continues to deliver better and better photos each and every month. It’s been really cool to see the evolution of his style over the last year, and we love the style and creativity he consistently brings to the gallery. If you’re not following him on Instagram yet, go show him some love!

This month, NSD‘s second place win came from his entry titled “White Buffalo.” This shot features a dried and manicured bud that’s not just ready to smoke, but it’s practically calling out to anyone looking at it, “smoke me!”

The shot beautifully highlights the bud’s best characteristics and placing it against a dark background really helps make those trichomes pop. This was definitely one of our favorite shots in the gallery this month, and the voters seemed to agree!

Congrats and, as always, thank you NSD!

First Place: @michelles-marijuana

Mystical Trcihomes

Michelles Marijuana
“Mystical Trichomes” by Michelle’s Marijuana

Finally, for or first place winner, we have a new member and first-time contestant, Michelle’s Marijuana (@michellesmarijuana on IG) with an absolutely stunning bud shot featuring a creative color edit.

@michelles-marijuana showed some incredible talent and vision with all of her entries, and the voters selected her purple edit, titled “Mystical Trichomes,” which features a detailed macro shot with amazing color edits, as the winner. Some of our favorite details in this winning shot include the purple bud coloration and blue (yes, blue) pistils.

We’ve never seen a bud that naturally has the colors shown in this photo, and this is exactly what we love about art and creativity— it gives us the opportunity to see and appreciate the world around us in a different light.

We encourage all participants to experiment with cool edits and creative techniques that push the limits of what can be created with cannabis and a camera. Michelle has dialed in some seriously impressive techniques and we can’t wait to see what else she creates with cannabis.

Congrats to @michelles-marijuana on winning your first contest, and thanks for being a part of our community!

Final Thoughts

Another contest is behind us, which means our next one is live! Our June 2021 Photo Contest is already filling up fast but entry is open through the 21st of the month, which leaves plenty of time to get some of your favorite shots together.

We also FINALLY have some really exciting announcements coming in the next couple of weeks. Without getting into the messy details, we’ve been going back and forth with Facebook for over 6 months and finally just got the green light to move forward with some of our original plans to grow this community, which were unexpectedly delayed last November.

We’ve been growing 100% organically since we launched in 2020 and, now that we know this contest is something our community enjoys, we want to bring in ALL the cannabis photographers we can find. Eventually, we hope this community can evolve into something every cannabis photographer can benefit from in some way, shape, or form. And we have so many exciting ideas to make that happen!

Be sure to follow us on Instagram to stay up to date with the latest announcements and updates. We also send out the occasional email with the most important updates, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter if that’s your preferred medium.

Thanks again everyone, and we’ll see you in our June Photo Contest!
