January 2022 Photo Contest Results
Our first contest of 2022 has come to a close. Thanks to everyone who participated!
The January 2022 photo contest had 11 entries from 4 contestants. Two of the contestants were returning contest winners and two are brand new members.
What’s more, in January we had contestants from every country in North America! Ashlee (@ashleestillerphotography) is from Canada, Nick (@the_chronickk) is from the USA, and Azul (@710blu) is from Mexico! We think this is such a cool reminder of how cannabis-inspired art brings people together.
And now, without further ado, let’s get into the January 2022 photo contest results!
3rd Place: @710blu
Square Dance Purple
In third place, new member@710blu wowed the crowd with this shot of “Square Dance Purple.”
We love this photo and feel like we can practically smell the buds. The purple colors stand out beautifully against the white background, and Azul did a great job capturing the details of the trichomes and pistils to give us this eye-pleasing mix of purple, white, and orange.
We’re happy Azul decided to share this photo with us and we hope to see many more in the future!
2nd Place: @astiller
Autoflower
In second place, Ashlee Stiller does it again with her shot titled “Autoflower.”
Ashlee is one of our longest-standing members and a repeat Potography contest winner. We love @astiller’s eye for photography which shines through in her unmistakable style. She’s one of those artists whose work you can spot from the crowd, and we love that!
We also love how this photo highlights the natural symmetry displayed by the plant.
Congrats, Ashlee!
1st Place: @astiller
Big Devil
In first place, @astiller does it yet again with another shot of a young vegging plant. This photo, titled “Big Devil,” shows a beautiful close-up of a plant with just a few leaf sets. You can still see the cotyledons, and she’s probably no more than a couple of weeks old. This makes the title of the photo that much better.
Aside from the great title, the photo shows some incredible detail, and we like how the background is a sort of light purple. It makes the green plant material pop.
Ashlee frequently photographs homegrown cannabis plants and they always look happy and healthy. Both of her January contest winners feature plants in the vegetative stage of growth, whereas most cannabis photography tends to focus on the flowering plant or finished product. We think this only makes her photos more impressive since it highlights the extra thought she puts into composing each one.
We’re excited to see this Big Devil grow up and more of @astiller’s cannabis photos in future contests! In the meantime, congrats on another contest win!
