June 2021 Photo Contest Winners
Our June 2021 photo contest has come to a close and with more entries than any previous contest, this was our most competitive contest to date!
What we thought was by far the coolest thing about this contest, though, was that it’s the first time seeing our favorite four-legged friends in the gallery! While the entries with doggos didn’t make it to the leaderboard, we really loved seeing those noses in the gallery this month.
To all our new members and contestants, welcome! And to everyone else who participated in our June 2021 photo contest, thank you for helping our community continue to grow!
Without further ado, let’s get into the results!
3rd Place: @chowda420
The photo features a ripening bud in mid-late flower stage, and you can see a nice layer of trichomes starting to fully coat the top. The pistils are just starting to turn orange, which means this plant is just now starting to really fatten up. We can only imagine how she smelled and looked when this photo was taken and a couple of weeks later at the chop!
Thanks to @chowda420 for another excellent entry and congrats on your win!
2nd Place: @siraynot
In second place, another returning member and multiple contest winner @siraynot is back with an absolutely stunning shot of a strain called Rainbow Tonic.
This plant appears to be growing under natural sunlight in a greenhouse, and the natural light combines with the insane coloration expressed by the plant’s genetics to create some absolutely killer photos. But the key ingredient here is @siraynot ‘s talent behind the camera.
We love the composition of this photo, which was taken from an overhead view to highlight some beautifully ripened and trichome-covered buds peeking through the trellis. And the voters seemed to agree!
1st Place: @siraynot
In first place, @siraynot does it again with the Rainbow Tonic! This time, he took a close-up shot of a flowering top from the side.
These plants are such a dark purple that they border on being straight-up black, and this helps to highlight the abundant trichome coverage exhibited by this particular strain.
These photos were also timed perfectly with the grow cycle so that @siraynot was capturing these plants at peak ripeness. Buds have swollen and pistils have begun to recede, and the photo’s detail even reveals fully-formed trichome heads.
You can tell the plants were cultivated with the utmost care and pride and these photos leave lots to be admired not just in the area of cannabis photography but also in cultivation.
As always, big thanks to @siraynot for entering, and congrats on the well-deserved wins!
Thanks again to all our members, contestants, and voters who continue to make this contest something we look forward to each month.
If you tuned in to the live winner announcement with @the_chronickk, thank you! We’ll be making that part of the monthly routine from now on, and maybe we’ll even start bringing on some of our member artists. Let us know what you think next time we go live (August 1st!).
Thank you again everyone, and see you in the July 2021 Photo Contest!
