June 2022 Photo Contest Winners
After a record-breaking month for voting in May with one of the most impressive entry pools to date, our June 2022 photo contest delivered yet another batch of mesmerizing entries. We’re stoked to see the contest continuing to attract new members and push our existing members to up their game each and every month. Thanks, everyone!
Let’s get right into our June 2022 photo contest results.
Third Place: @cannashotskc
Blue Dreams

In third place, new member @cannashotskc beat out the competition with a really cool shot called “Blue Dreams.” The photo features a live cola lit up from the sides with one of the lights being red or purple and the other blue.
The effect of the contrasting lights, not to mention the gorgeous flower sample as the subject, makes the shot stand out in the gallery and clearly won the voters’ attention.
Well done to @cannashotskc and thank you for participating!
Second Place: @thedavidlynch
Pistils and Calyxes

Our second place winner @thedavidlynch came out swinging with three incredible entries. One of his shots was oriented in portrait, one was square, and the other was landscape. All three were great in our humble opinion and the best of the bunch, according to our voters, was his portrait shot titled “Pistils and Calyxes.”
Dave’s winning shot features a close-up macro view of a ripening cannabis flower. As the photo title implies, the image is so detailed it could easily be used to help explain the anatomy of cannabis flowers.
Thanks to @thedavidlynch for submitting these wonderful entries and congrats on the win!
First Place: @terp-pusher
Macro shot

In first place, another new member and first-time contestant @terp-pusher earned the top spot with a beautiful photo titled “Macro shot.”
During our live stream announcement of the winners on Instagram, @terp-pusher revealed this image was actually produced using an editing technique called photo stacking. With photo stacking, photographers can take dozens and sometimes hundreds of images of the same subject in order to capture each and every part of the subject in perfect focus.
Then, using photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop, the photos are “stacked” or blended together to create a single image that’s 100% in focus. For a plant like cannabis, with its extremely complex and multi-faceted surface, photo stacking has proven to be an essential editing skill for all cannabis photographers.
Thanks to @terp-pusher for entering and congrats on the well-deserved win!
