New Hemp Prints & Hemp Postcards!
Potography is excited to announce our newest product offering: hemp prints and stationery!
We currently have two hemp prints and eight hemp postcards available at our online shop, and we’ll be adding many more designs and hemp paper products over the coming weeks and months.
In fact, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be phasing out our existing lineup of 100% recycled greeting cards and from now on will ONLY be printing on hemp-based paper!
Our original cards will remain available for purchase at a discounted price until our existing inventory is gone, and we’ll also be going through our catalog to pick out our favorite designs and collections to make available on hemp.
Our first collection of hemp reprints will be announced soon, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and be among the first to know!
This is a dream come true for us, and we’re excited to share this news with the world.
Keep reading for more on why we’re so excited about this new development!
Hemp Paper Was Always The Goal
Potography started printing our in-house garden photos on postcards and notecards back in 2018, and printing on hemp has always been our ultimate goal. But back in 2018, there weren’t any commercial hemp paper stocks available that we felt were suitable for fine art and photography.
We launched our online store last year with a full line of cards printed on recycled paper with the hope that someday we’d be able to convert our products to hemp.
We’re happy to report that day has finally come!
Hemp Paper is Here to Stay
In 2019, we knew of just a tiny handful of hemp paper stocks available for commercial printing. Most hemp paper was covered with visible hemp fiber particles that rendered it unsuitable for printing photos and most art.
But today, less than a year later, we’ve identified over 25 unique paper stocks made with hemp, and the list just keeps growing! Some of these new hemp papers are bright white and made specifically for fine art printing, while others are more suitable for applications like historic replicas and recreations.
Regardless of which specific stock you prefer and what you’re using it for, hemp paper is always a sustainable alternative to tree-based paper.
Not only does hemp produce more paper per acre than trees, it also requires less toxic chemicals to grow and process.
Thanks to the new hemp paper stocks on the market today, like those we work with here at Potography, you no longer need to choose between quality and sustainability.
This Is Just The Beginning
While some hemp paper stocks are still a bit pricey, many of the newer papers are competitively priced, especially when it comes to specialty print products like fine art prints. This means you can make the switch to hemp without breaking the bank, and more and more people and businesses are doing just that.
There’s simply no need to keep destroying irreplaceable forests to fuel our consumption of paper. At the same time, there’s no need to limit our consumption of paper if we can replace trees with sustainable resources like hemp.
Because paper is wonderful, but making paper from trees is not.
We’ve been having an absolute blast experimenting with all the new hemp papers on the market, and we are beyond excited to start sharing our findings with our community of cannabis-inspired artists.
As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or custom quote requests. We’re currently focusing on fine art hemp prints and stationery, but we have plans to expand our custom hemp printing options in the near future and your job may already be within our range of capabilities. So, again, please reach out if you have a project in mind.
